Presentation of the seminar.

This is a great opportunity to get out of our daily lives, to get together, to strengthen ties at the national level and beyond, to benefit from time for mutual encouragement, sharing and common edification.

Presentation of the theme.

No other book has shaped the Western world as much as the Bible. And yet, this invaluable heritage today tends to fade: its scope is contested, its relevance for daily life called into question, the notion of truth has sunk into an exacerbated relativism.

But what about our Protestant schools?

Does the Bible still occupy its rightful place – not as a simple icing placed on the “educational cake”, but as this “living leaven” which leaves all the dough of teaching and human training?

What does this slogan, often displayed on the websites of our establishments, stating that we are “founded on Christian values” or “inspired by them” really mean?

What is the scope of the “Sola Scriptura” of the Reformation when it applies to education, pedagogy, and the teaching of school subjects? What diversity of approaches and experiences among us? What successes and what pitfalls?

And how can the Church, enlightened by the Word of God and strengthened by its two millennia of involvement in education through its schools and universities, still serve society today by giving meaning and consistency to an education that is nourished by this heritage?

These questions — and many others — will be at the heart of our Seminar, which will offer a journey of reflection and discussion.

The interventions in plenary sessions by Professor Vishal Mangalwadi, theologian and philosopher, will open the way to in-depth workshops, where everyone will be able to explore how the Word of God can once again become the living source and transformative foundation of our Protestant schools of today and tomorrow.

Presentation of the keynote speaker.

Vishal Mangalwadi (1949-) is an educator, theologian, philosopher, international speaker, social reformer, cultural and political chronicler. The newspaper “Christian Today” said of him: “Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi is one of India's greatest Christian intellectuals. In 1975 he married Ruth. Both settled on Vishal's father's farm in India and founded a farmers' support association. In 1977, he published his first book, “The World of Gurus” . Subsequently, he committed himself intensely to contributing to the improvement of his country. Since 1996, he has given numerous conferences and published texts throughout the world. For several years, he has promoted free online higher education.

He demonstrated in particular the phenomenal impact of the Bible in transforming individuals and nations, in several of his books:

“The book that made our world” (which should be available in French for the Seminar)

“The book that changed everything”

“From truth to transformation” already available in French ici

His latest book, “The Third Educational Revolution”, was written with other authors from around the world, it should also be available in French for the seminar. See the site
